News archives don't work

I just tried to browse the news archives, and most of the archives don't show up. For instance, if you look at the older news entries posted in 1998, even though it thinks there are several items under some months, there is nothing displayed when you follow the month link.

The news archives have been broken for a long time. The ones that do come up are cut off after 1024 characters.

This is sad, but the wayback machine probably will have most of the old archives.

That goes up to Dec. 9, 2002, and the new webpage was put into place around Jan. 1, 2003, after which the archives are correct.

Perhaps we should put those links/pages on the archives page so that everyone can access them.
