This is incredibly basic but I couldn't find any info on the wiki about it.
1. How does smoothing work in VS, does it read hard/soft edges, smooth groups etc Do edges need to be split into different pieces to make them hard? Is it possible to use normal maps to create the hard edges in VS?
2. Modo (the app I use) is designed for high end modelling and rendering, not game models, so it doesn't use regular smooth groups or hard soft edge weighting. Taking an obj file, with no smoothing or hard edges applied. What's the easiest way of setting all the edges to hard (without messing up the UV's or anything)? Is there a simple command in Blender or Wings or another free program that I could use to do this easily?
smoothing
Need help testing contributed art or code or having trouble getting your newest additions into game compatible format? Confused by changes to data formats? Reading through source and wondering what the developers were thinking when they wrote something? Need "how-to" style guidance for messing with VS internals? This is probably the right forum.
