Few Questions

Post by Dark »

I've been playing this game for a few days and is it possible to get a capital ship, cruiser or something big. Also does anyone know where I could get missiles because I can't find them anywhere.

Welcome Dark the only player purchasable capital ship is the Clydesdale you can find them on Trantor and Ice planets not always for sale so revisiting becomes necessary when you do find one you will find they are no fun to fly they are a few Km long and thousands of tonnes so inertia which the engine models pretty accurately means they fly like a brick in cold molasses as i have been describing it for a few year  at which point some guys start hacking ship specs so they are a lot more nimble throwing physics to the arcade side in the process. As for missles what kind there are several some have been factiionalized by that i mean they are only available at a particular factions bases and planets but dumb fires should be available just about everywhere no guidance but a big boom, the same with heat seekers and friend/foe missiles.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Thanks. My next question is which ships are compatible with the cloak because the only one I've found is the Schroedinger ,and some Aera ships I've bought aren't compatible with the cloak.

I have tried to put aera cloak on aera ships but couldn't. I don't know why. I tried both milspec and stock and neither permitted me.

Another capship .. sort of that is available is the Ox ... far less effective than the clydesdale but it carries a boat load of cargo.

Check the Can_Cloak column in your Units.csv, you'll see that there are only few ships you can fit a cloak on by design.
So far, I've never felt the need for a cloak, as I've never engaged anything bigger than cargo capships; I'd find it interesting, possibly, in multiplayer coop missions, where a light cloaked fighter could take care of killing cap turrets unnoticed, while uncloaked teammates wipe out the escort and then finish the unarmed capship.

The cloak is my second-favorite upgrade, after the overdrive, because it allows me to adhere to the privateering principle of "never do anything for free." Does your cargo route take you through enemy territory? No problem, cloak and deliver the cargo. You have a bounty on a Nicander who has 7 wingmen? No problem, take out the target and retreat under cloak, without having to fight his 7 friends.

There are two speeds in combat: stopped, and as fast as you can go. Unless you run into something, going fast keeps you alive more often than stopping.
