ideas for a new ship?

Post by ridingnowhere85 »

i started a new game recently. this is my 5th or 6th game, but it's been a really long time.

i started trading between atlantis and the mining station, but that ran dry quick. the only upgrades i have are a jump drive and an emc. the route went dry quick, so i did some patrols and am now jumping around trading.

i only have about 50 or 60k, but i need a new ship. i want something with good cargo capacity, but i want to feel safe in it too. maybe blow up a few pirates.

any ideas? if i could put a turret on a ploughshare, i'd be happy.

Bounty missions pay pretty well you just have to learn to survive  but what do you want to do run cargo with no hassles(ignore the pirates) then the mule may be best lots of cargo space and turrets but it is like it's name sake in handling a bit baucky lke all of the big ships.

Enjoy the Choice :)

With only 50k I'd advise keeping your Llama for a while longer. It has enough firepower, particularly in terms of missiles, to take on basic bounty missions and you don't have enough money to need more cargo space. Try trading mining goods from factories/commerce centres to mining bases, preferably within a system, to build up some more cash for a later change of ship.

i kind thought that was the case. i think i just need to get some combat experience under my belt...i read through all the guides, so hopefully i can start blowing up bounties soon. i never was good at killing things in this.

also, does anyone know how dangerous patrol missions are, generally? i've done some in cephid 17, and didn't encounter anyone, but that only paid about 5.7k

Patrol missions can be a bit like rolling the dice very variable and the payout gives you no indication of the difficulty, that and when you do encounter enemy ships they like to run away before you get close enough to register it for the mission so you end up chasing it all over the system.

Enjoy the Choice :)

I recently "upgraded" to a Hyena, only real difference is it's faster, more maneuverable and can tractor stuff.

Next I might get a Dotsoevsky(sp?) or a Rlaan ship. I'm not really much of a missile guy.
