Klingon D7 class ( and all about it )

Post by tillias »

Here are shots of D7 class. Again if someone can help me with information from original films/series... Post anything here.

Personally I think it is too grayscale...

that's the k'tinga as opposed to the D7---the D7 was in the original series only (and one episode of Deep space nine --trials and tribblations)
but the K'tinga is much more widely used in modern fleets

Since I'm going to fix glow maps and textures I'm interested in zoomed down, up, left, right shots. Please make them as accurate as possible... ( because those shots will be applied to VegaTrek K'Tinga model :)

Hm... yes... it's as close as I got by just googling.
I'll be able to get some screenshots in a while, but not just yet. So... keep googling, I think.

And I'll make sure to warn in advance if it's not a D7

I don't need web images... There are tons of shots and models. I just asked if someone have seen it in movies/series and can post here screenshots.
God bless you!

That one is from one of the movies.
ST6, I think.

I specifically ignored the ones that weren't.

But... give me a few days (don't have them right now), and I'll get you some shots off the ST6 DVD (K'tinga - I'm not sure where I can get a D7 other than from Tribbles and Tribble-ations or TOS).

The only place I could find reference to the difference between a k'tinga and a D7 was in the Star Trek Starship Combat Simulator desktop game from back in the day...(where they list something like 20 different varients including one from a cartoon episode that had a stasis field).

Acording to the game (and this is by no means canonical) was this.

The D7A (TOS model) has 4 disrupters mounted on the two warp nacels

The D7M (the k'tinga first appearing in Star Trek the Movie commanded by Christopher Lloyd of Taxi and Back to the Future fame btw),

It included 2 more disrupters (totaling 6 mounted on the same hardpoints)
and the addition of a forward torpedo launcher on the boom. Stronger shields, more power and is faster.

The other difference is the "bird of prey" ish decorations on the original D7. Theres a wierd thing in TOS where the D7 was shown as both a Klingon Warship, and at times a Romulan warship, but the BOP design works on either really

Well, first of all D7 and K'Tinga are very different :)
At least D7 shields are 57units and K'Tinga ones are 1100+ :-)

Awesome information!
I've mounted for D7 model -- 4 disruptor at Warp Naccels.
Moreover we will alow player to mount additional 2 disruptors ( as upgrades ) or replace disruptors with beams ( totally 6 beams or disruptors ). Of course there will be huge number of upgrades for each disruptor ( refire speed, rate of fire, damage, distance, etc etc etc ).

As "candy" for this ship I want one TOS K-Photon torpedoe ( or maybe two ). They will cost a huge ammount of money... But nonone prevents player from earning money as trader ( get some dilithium as cargo and reach good star-system, where dilithium is in shortage :)

As for K'Tinga, yes it also have 4 disruptors mounted on each Warp Naccel + disruptor beam at the very front and aft.
I've just opened new topic with screenshots and references.
God bless you!
