Downloaded VegaTrek 0.62 - How do I install of Linux

Post by linuxGamer »

Hello Everyone,

I'm new on here, just joined.

I have Vega Strike up and running on my Fedora 20 (Linux) Box and naturally wanted to progress to Vega Trek so downloaded version 0.62 from Sourceforge but all the info on how to run it is for Micro$ Windows none of which helps with Fedora Linux.

I'm used to doing either
./configure --> make --> make install
or
ccmake --> make and optionally make install
to build from source, but what's in the zip file looks a bit different to what I'm used to.

Do any fellow Linuxers have any tips or pointers on how to build/install Vega Trek?

Welcome aboard if you build vegastrike VegaTrek is just a mod just a matter of making sure that the cofig file points to the right data set ie:vegatrek not vegastrike I would try things in userland first before actually install just installed Mint 17.1 myself yesterday torched my fedora install no cuda support :( so I haven't got around to doing a Mint native build of the svn code yet still in post install tweak mode :lol: Will be downloading that vegaTrek bundle myself then and see what happens :roll:

Enjoy the Choice :)

Well the build was a doodle works fine with the the main vegastrike data files but when the *nix executables are dropped into vega-trek's bin folder it does not get to the main menu lots of python errors That I will have to work though to figure out what is happening most likely a reference to a script that no longer exists :shock: Esgaroth was more of a copy/paste programmer ;) so I'm not surprised.

Enjoy the Choice :)

And I just remember that there are a few C++ changes to the engine it's self so I will have to track down the source code for the patches so that you do a native Linux build.

Enjoy the Choice :)
