Most of firekkan ships were given to them by confed, they are way behind the tech race.

The other part of the joke was that this ship probably sports like a quarter of a million polys...

Well, Romulans DID buy alot of Klingon ships in exchange for giving the Klingons cloaking tech.

As for our fine feathered friends: I could see them using earlier Confed designs, like upgraded Hornets and Scimitars, civilian fighters, and maybe some comandeered kilrathi ships.

I heard something about that the Firekkan themselves look like birds (my knowledge of the Wing Commander universe stops at WC 1, the first few missions of WC2 and some stuff I've got from I don't know where, so correct me if I am wrong. Man, Tolwyn sure is annoying as hell in WC2, but back on topic.)

Now, the Romulans are known for building ships that supposedly look like birds. (The closest in my opinion was the Warbird that good old Kirk encountered. You know, the one with the bird painting on the bottom and the big plasma gun.) I suppose they may be upset if they find out that a race of birdpeople (something they've never seen) goes for ships that look like the rustbuckets flown by the Klingons instead of their own complex, advanced, elegant (insert random stuff telling how great the Romulan ships are here) designs.

Nice Bird of Prey by the way. Hate to see it ingame though, much too detailed. My computer has trouble enough running at the lowest sttings as it is.

Firekkans are anthropomorphic avians with six limbs: 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 wings. The ones seen in SM2 seem to have a mix of firey colors to their feathers.
