Miscellanea

Post by chuck_starchaser »

Just ocurred to me to start this thread for random questions or comments..
So, to get the ball rolling...
I found the following reference when reading about jump points in the encyclopaedia:
2.8 Has jump point formation ever been observed?
Yes. In 2669 a Confederation solar shadow ring station in the Trafalgar System observed a jump point formation inside the Tanhauser nebula. Due to the potential strategic value of such a discovery, the CID classified all information gathered on the occurrence.
But I looked in the big map 2 or 3 times and can't find a Trafalgar system.
Any idea where it is? Did it change name?

Uh... Never mind; I found it!
It's part of Border Worlds, in the Antares quadrant,
just a little West of Firekka.

Here's a better question, I hope...

The Dragon heavy fighter, in the encyclopaedia it says,
Faction Terran Confederation
Manufactured By Black Lance
Isn't that a contradiction?
Plus...
Cloak Yes
But I thought only the kats had cloak :?
And it doesn't give any dates..
What's the scoop?

the first time a Confederation fighter gets equipped with a cloak is in WC3 (your Excalibur in the very last mission), the Dragon is from WC4 so yes, it would have cloak.

If I remember it correctly, the cloak you use in WC 3 is adapted from Kilrathi technology.

In WC4 you can get the cloak if you save some kilrathi that are being attacked by pirates. I dont remember if you could use it with ships other than the dragon.

The dragon has a builtin cloak that Just Works, plus you get to use a cloak (one use only like in wc3) in one mission (I think on a Vindicator) thanks to something Pliers and Melek put together.

I remember having played with the cloak, and that I could trigger it on and off. But it was a long time ago, and presently I have no DVD drive in my "Playing PC", so I can't run WC4. I think I always played with the hellcat, even during the cloak missions. I loved that ship. Very beautiful. It was the only beatyful ship in WC, except for the Centurion (which, by the way, looks very much like the hellcat - in fact, I used to call it hellcat).

Disclaimer: My memory is known to fail, and when it does, I tend to make up things... so I may be wrong... quite likely.
