Hmm here is an idea. To go beyond the scope of even owning your own station how about starting your own company/faction. One that creates income for you. You buy the ships they run the cargo for you. Kinda like X2. you also purchase ships for escorts. I dont know how you woudl do it but that woudl be awsome

Checkout the storyline threads; we've been thinking of your having Kroiz as a very powerful rival, and you have to colonize a system in a secret area to make enough money to build an entire fleet to defeat Kroiz.

we have the Victory (I just did the flight deck for it, will be in patch 14) but the Tiger's Claw doesn't look like that...

looks more like this (game canon wins over movie canon).

Bastards! Movie makers are bastards! I mean, if I was making a movie, of course I would add detail to the models; --mega-tons of details-- but not change them completely!

If it's the same movie I'm thinking about, it not only changed the ship... it changed the ship to fit... (ok, it will sound preposterous, as it is) a submarine movie.
Not only they're bastards because they changed the ship: they threw out the oportunity to tell one of WC's stories, and there are lots of them, well thought. Still, what did they do? They took a classic submarine tale, and replaced the subs with ships. And it's all they did: even the tactics were sub-vs-destroyer. Depth charges and all. Silent running (with hushes and all - in space - yeah). Bastards. Bastards indeed. I was so pissed when I saw that movie. What an oportunity wasted.

I agree with you:
First: I did not went to the theaters to see WC the Movie (my son was being born then) and then I BOUGHT THE *&¨*%¨DVD!!!, which was soon afterwards defenestrated (if this word doesn't exist in English, it comes from Latin: de=get rid of, drop, cut, and fenestra=window). My neighbour's cat was hit in the head and killed. So you see, even a bad thing can turn to be a good one ;D. They lost a very good opportunity to make a good film out of a game (did anyone like Mortal Combat???)
Second: I think that, with limitations to preserve the balance and gameplay, we should have access to a varied number of cap ships. It's not only fun, but you gain means to deserve it - I don't know you people, but I was doing mission after mission to buy a Paradigm, the most difficult AND dangerous ones (once I single-handed -don't like or trust wingmen - threw to oblivion a wing of 11 (!!) kilrathi WITHOUT editing the game) and after a LOT of time I still had about two and a half million! And the Paradigm costed 8700000... B( So, I hope that you implement this issue in the next WCU, which I find an awesome game, and it can be even better.

How about some Firekkan 'specials'? They dont strike me as dumb birds, so maybe if they cant build a decent fighter from scratch, just take bits and pieces from others to make a better ship. Kind of like what the IADF did to the Mirage to make the Kfir.chuck_starchaser wrote:Just the Higborn Yatch (luxury, Firekkan mfr) ship from tiny paintings...what did i miss?

oh boy... i can smell the barbecue from BradMick when he reads this
I'm not against it, IF the result looks wing commander ish. I did something similar for the Gratha, if you go look it has a Landreich skin -- reason being that in a novel it says that the Landreich had some Gratha fighters (Not sure how they got it, but they did).
How about just doing "recolors" of older fighters, and maybe changing the stats and weapons a little? From what I see of Firekkan culture, I would bet that they would privilege speed and maneuverability over armor, so maybe give them WC1-era fighters that have cool hotrod flame designs on them and go a little faster than usual...
(everyone knows that red paint and stickers makes your car go faster )
