Are cap ships a bit too small?

Post by Fireskull »

I have to agree with Chuck when he said some stuff is just off. Though in no way I think we should have real sized planets and systems, I think real sized capships would add a lot to the game.

I dont know if its because I fly a Galaxy, but those Fralthi, Gilgameshes and Paradigms all seen a bit too small for me. Anyone who did a few bombing runs in WC3 knows what I am talking about.

I think WC standoff got the ship scales right. But this all is coming from someone who doesnt knows -anything- about texturing and mesh editing... so would it be a load of hard work to have capships be like... 3x bigger than they are now?

There is a SIZE variable in units.csv :) you can change that... the best part is that mount points, turret positions, exhaust flames etc. will be changed automatically with it.

Please do play around with it!

Great, thats just amazing :)

I am very familiar with WC canon and I could size the cap ships very close to their "real thing". Though due to my busy RL it -may- take a while.

That said.... if anyone else wants to do it ( chuck? ) go ahead.

The easiest way to open units.csv is with OpenOffice, I think. Be sure you have the latest patch or Robot Jesus will eat your cereals.

To change the size of ships its just a matter of playing around with the numbers under unit_scale?

I have been trying to change the size of a paradigm... but everytime I go to perry the one garrisioned there always has the same size.

Remember to use the reset_universe.bat or to delete the subdirectories in /.privateer100 (except for the save dir)

Go to the ./privateer100 folder and remove all the subfolders except for the one called save, then try again -- possibly with a unit that (1) isn't a garrison and (2) has turrets, so you can check the size against the turret size.
