Hey, since we need a few Kilrathi civilian ships (at least one equivalent of the Galaxy) here's my take on a merchantman

http://www.spiritplumber.com/priv_remak ... antman.jpg

a merchant scout

http://www.spiritplumber.com/priv_remak ... _scout.jpg

and a privately owned fighter

These were all made from bits and pieces of WC1-era kat ships.

Not bad, but I think that a lot of Kats might be using obsolete WC1 milspec birds, like Krants and old-model Dralthi.

I would think a civilian Kat would be smart enough not to fly a suicide machine, err, Salthi...

Fighter wise I agree (the fighter is obviously a modded Krant made to look a bit like a Demon) but I need an equivalent of the Tarsus, Galaxy, and probably Orion...

The 2nd one is supposed to be the kilrathi Tarsus... hence why the somewhat goofy look. :) I need to put some visible cargo hold on the other merchantman though.

Another thing I noticed is that we don't have a Dorkir so here it is.

This is made out of the "head" of a Triton and bbits and pieces of other meshes.

Ooh, triple post! Way to go, Spirit!

On a more serious note, I've got an idea or two about some Kilrathi ships. Let me see what I can cobble together.

Please cobble all you like!!! :D :D

And of course the Dorkir/Lumbari will be modular in the same way the Drayman/Diligent is. Still need to do the tanker config...

Could I get that mesh? One of the ideas I've got might work out for that.

A cheap, partially modular Kilrathi small-craft carrier. Not a line ship, but a clan/civilian ship. Dual purpose, since it can be loaded with either fighters or shuttles.

You build it by strapping a certain kind of module onto a Lumbari.

EDIT: Basically, they carry four shuttles and 16 fighters or so. Barely equivalent to a Fralthi but without the defenses or the ability to stand up to an angry Taurus.

Standard flight doctrine is two light-medium fighters (Salthi, Dralthi, Krant) are flying CAP at any given time with two more on the deck, ready for launch along with two medium-heavy fighters (Gratha, Gothri, Krant, Jalthi).

These things might be Kilrathi InSys carriers as well, either servicing raiders or moving patrol fighters from system to system. There wouldn't be too many of these things, between the freighter shortage (Fleet Action) and the fact that these modules are semi-permanently attached.

This is what happens when a Dorkir and a Lumbary love each other very much... ahem.

Here's meshes, textures etc. I would appreciate it if you could simplify the cargo module, my program crashes when I try to. Everything is in OBJ format.

*imports model into Blender*

*screams in horror, starts twitching*

I see what you mean... I don't know how your modeling program interprets it, but that thing's been split into a bunch of individual objects.

I think I can fix it but it's going to take some time. And I can't texture at all, so someone'll have to redo the textures, but I think I can start to get this thing to make more sense.

EDIT: Okay, I managed to yank 10-15k verticies out of the main Dorkir model. I'm going to continue cleaning this model up. A good number of faces seem to be buried inside the model itself, completely invisible but still taking up memory.

Re carrier.... Works for me, I'm not too keen on inventing ships at this stage if a suitable alternative exists, but I guess ship variants is OK. :)

Is the Dorkir bigger or smaller than the Dorkathi? I would say bigger.

I'm not sure about the size of the transports, and it's just an idea on teh carrier. Besides, this thing is a very limited-role and I'm not that sold on it. I jsut tend to do a lot of analysis on things. :)

I'm not sure how long I'm going to be rebuilding the mesh, since this is a fairly interesting mess.

I tried "remove internal parts" in deep exploration, but it crashes ^^;

I can see why. Which is why I'm in the process of doing the same thing manually. Which takes a long time, since I'm working up from the stern and fixing bits and pieces as I go.

EDIT: I took a bit of a break and decided to do a bit of kitbashing to get some sort of merchant ship or shuttle out of the old WC1 Gratha model.

I figure these were new designs rather than from the WC games originally, right? Don't know if the textures are WIP but IMO what would really make them look nicer would be some "dirt" & noise to the textures. But then again, I never played the WC games (shame on me! will have to play both PR and WCU soon :)) so it might not be appropriate for the retro-feel...

Hey I suck at art :) see the "new ships" topic for the zip file, grab them and edit them to your heart's content. Thanks in advance!

Spirit, check your e-mail. I've sent you a couple of things. One of them's that merchant ship I've finally managed to attach to this post.

The other's a (hopefully) cleaned Dorkir, with a bunch of faces and verticies removed. Some of the textures probably need to be reapplied, though, which is beyond my skills. There's also a container in a similar state.

@spiritplumber:
I'm not going to mess with anything I have absolutely no knowledge of :S After I actually play PR and WCU, maybe... :)
Good luck in the meantime :)

I ended up redoing the container (easier, really) and used your cleaned up mesh for the frame. enjoy ^-^
