i'm going to stop working on WCU due to utter and complete lack of feedback, final update up within the next twelve hours.

Spirit; when I give you feedback you totally ignore me. Besides, most weekends I'm the only one around here. ;-)

Humm, maybe we need to draw more people in, do some advertisment, and then we might get some more feedback.

I know how you feel. It's a little discouraging when I post some new stuff in my elite mod thread, only to check back the next day and find no replies. I hope you don't give up completely, though.

Keep in mind that lack of feedback does not equate to lack of interest. I myself lurk in this form quite often, I just don't post.

Welcome to the club

Remember WCU is more of a “shellâ€

Spirit, this weekend were very few posts in priv remake forum either, despite toe release of a couple new models. It's the weekend. Besides, we do it 'cause we love it, not 'cause we need praise.

i didn't even realize you had posted; I've been busy all day remapping and importing the refinery. After that suddenly I saw three or four new threads here, covering the range from updates to goodbye before I had even seen one of them. You just have to give it a little time :)

Yes I know this is probably a joke at my expense, “What development?â€

heh I hadn't thought of it that way. Just the way Halleck said that struck me as funny.

It will be cool to see Rylix get moving again though. WC:WI too. So much going on.. Vegatrek may someday have another version, I really want some VegaWars action etc etc..

Privateer seems to be winding down finally, so I might have some time to spare.

PeteyG released a vegatrek data dump not too long ago. It's really cool. Even has a LCARS-style hud. 8)

It will be highly unlikely Rylix will see any substantial development until I can find a few modeler willing to put up with my exacting visions for ship design. At this point the I consider the models poly irrelevant do to each new generation of video card coming, so as far as I am concerned sky’s the limit.

As for the before Dan left of VC, he expressed interest in getting WCWI moving. I personally think it has the best chance to success as a standalone game, not to mention almost everything is here in some shape, way or form. It just needs to be built after 5yrs

I'm always say, "no rush" but I my self am becoming antsy to get it done permanently.

Sorry  i still have mini-bouts of depression like that.... if I can help for any other project, I'm sure that a few things I did to WCU can be injected into other VS related work (fleet battle AI, trade model)

@spirit: you do have to give us some time to check the forum. I was on a long weekend (monday was a national day) and didn't even see the updates until today. I definitely like the idea of Fleet AI. I'll try to take a look at them. PS: Where are the files? CVS?

@mkreur: The problem with Rylix is that it's way too complex. Perhaps you should set a more realistic goal as an "immediate" goal, just to start moving forward. Once you achieved that first, possible, goal, move on to more ambitious goals, one step at a time. For instance, the first goal, quite ambitious but possible, would be realistic navigation. That would be most noticeable and quite achievable.

This also syncs WCU with priv 1.1 (put on top of a 1.1 install) hence why it's big and lonely.

Do you mean it "includes" 1.1? (I need to find an unrar for windows, my power archiver demo expired...)

OT: Doesn't unrar for linux compile under Windows? I had the impression it did.

It doesn't include 1.1, it just brings WCU in line with it, sorry

I have a feeling that if/when WCU had its own webspace, and a full install (not just the remake patch) there will be quite a bit more interest.

As I've mentioned before, if someone needs server space for VS or a mod, or for uploading VS-related stuff, that's what I got my server space for. Takes me two minutes to set up an ftp account. Just say the word.

webspace and space for downloads is what the wcuniverse souceforge.net project is for. wcuniverse.sourceforge.net is currently hosting the privateer remake pages, but it can certainly host pages for the actual WCU project ;) That is also where downloads for privateer and WCU are hosted. Plenty of space and bandwidth.

If one is going to make a full install, I'd consider saving some space by dropping a lot of the campaign speech. Perhaps a lot of the bar speech to. It is all very specific to the Privateer plot, and WCU is, per my understanding, meant to encompass a lot more time and space than gemini during Privateer. Do that, and a full download would be a lot easier to stomache.
