Privateer or WC?

I loved both games when I was younger. Spent many a late night dodging work... Its great that this community is doing this.
My question: I very much liked Privateer, but I woulld like to 'play out' privateer in the larger setting offered by WCU- So should I download WCU? Or just privateer? IE: does WCU also have the privateer plotline and trading/merc premise inside it? With all associated missions and campaigns? Or should I stick to privateer?

WCU right now is an add on to the privateer remake, so yeah, it has the Priv plotlines.

If you want to experience the exanded universe you should try out WCU. It does have all the plots and locations as Privateer, plus more. Caveat: it is still under development, but you can help out by testing things.

Go to the WCU thread in this forum, download the archives (you'll need the big graphics file if you didn't have a previous WCU version), put them in a fresh copy of Priv, and start a new game
If there's any problems post them here.
Also, most game code files are easy to edit with a text editor.

you can always post your wcu patch to the files section of sf.net/projects/wcuniverse
just login then click admin then click releases
will help people who are interested find something
many a person has already e-mailed me asking how to install your ship pack, and instead downloading the old (0.3) version of unconverted ships hosted there

excellent:!
now get tortoisecvs as recommended
and use your spiritplumber ssh address to import your sources to
spiritplumber@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/wcuniverse
command line should be
cvs -
dspiritplumber@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/wcuniverse import wcu foo bar
and yes both foo and bar matter
