problems with moddable space sims these days are...

I think we could make the max polycount like this:

without LOD mesh(es):
*) fighter 1024
*) capship 2048
*) station(part) 4096 ???

Only when using LOD mesh(es):
*) fighter 2048
*) capship 4096
*) station(part) 8192 ???

Any better thoughts?`

i tend to make LOD's drop drastically

i'll make the
from highest to lowest

and i've done LOTS of LOD work with hoemworld, so lod-ing is a snap for me (with all the practice)

sounds good...but it's still double what we have now (should be okay)....I for instance actually find it hard making a fighter more than 600 polygons (but that's just me creating them vertex by vertex ;-) )

scheherazade: that sound great too :-) but most are not going to be as skilled as you at it, so even one LOD will be effort...

the high lod on my weapon models is over 1K...
the low is around 15 (faces)

i'd post a pic but the forums aren't letting me :-/

Thats why i wrote max polycount ;-)

So everybody agrees with the polycounts?
If so i will put them into the wiki.
