Frustrated Noob Questions [ FYI: I am running the latest version of Vega Strike ]:

Question 1: How the heck do I save a game? I've checked the "ESC" keymap screen, the manual, and have even Google'd this and nothing. Amazing.

Question 2: I cannot access the map screen overlay. I press the required "SHIFT-H" and nothing.

Welcome aboard diss for the first question you can only save the game at a base/planet go to the computer room you will see a save button yeah the interface is very old school ,as the second to get the map overlay try shift-M instead of shift-H if that does not work please let me know.There are also several saved game hacks once you get one

Yes, SHIFT-M brought up the map screen overlay.

I guess it goes without saying that if I am between planets/bases and I get into some hot water and can't make it to the next planet/base that all my progress will be lost. Ouch.

That just means that you have to remember to save before lift-off at any base so the set back is not that great
