I am completely stuck in a system - low warp capacity?

Post by Zephyr »

I was just wandering through systems, trying to find my way back into the human ones, (I'm in these weird Rlaan ones) until upon entering a system, my jump metre said low energy, even though it was full. I decided to investigate in my ship stats, and found this message: warp capacitor banks under capacity for jump. I need at least 250 k of capacity but I don't even have 200k.) There is absolutely nowhere to buy a better SPEC Capacitor in this junky system. What do I do? I don't want to be stuck here forever, nor do I want to restart. How did this happen? Please help? :)

Welcome aboard Zephyr you could edit your ship stats file to upgrade that low Spec Capacitor for a better one  what OS are you running so I can direct you to the proper file to edit and which entry to change.

Enjoy the Choice :)

I'm running OpenSUSE 13.1 (Linux) :3 I actually already edited my save file, but I edited the location, not the SPEC Capacitor -w- I must have not done it properly though, because all the upgrades on my ship were deleted. Luckily, I was pretty rich from bounty missions and there was an ocean planet in my new location so I could buy a better SPEC Capacitor. Thanks anyway. PS: Any idea what I did wrong in editing my save file? I loaded my game and I was flying in space, instead of being docked, and all my upgrades were gone. Whoops.

Yeah editing the location was the other option the ship files for your fleet are at /home/username/.vegastrike/serialized_xml/savename you ended up in space most likely because there was no base of the same name/type in the new system.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Yeah I figured. Any idea why my ship was set back to its standard equipment? (I'm using the starter Llama.)

Not with out a close look at stdout/stderr from that run with the edited save but it may have just felled back to the Llama.begin when it did not match the save files' data there is some checking of the save file during it's parsing for validity.

Enjoy the Choice :)

For those who may read this thread in the future: It is possible to buy a second "FTL Capacitor I", provided there is one in the system you are in. In all the ships I have flown, two instances of "FTL Capacitor I" are enough to cover my energy needs for jumping / warping.
