Docking tutorials?

I just started playing VS and while trying to land I've bounced off a few stations....
The auto Pilate drops you off 50km from where you need to be.
I figure out how to make the ship go faster, but then I blow right by were I need to be.
Where are the brakes?¿?

I did manage to land, but it took 30mins of slow pulsing until I got close enough and even then I still scrapped the paint off the base.

Are there any video tutorials for how to land and proper docking techniques?
