My dumb questions topic
Since I seem to be very good at asking millions of dumb questions, I thought I'd make a topic so I don't end up with 50 topics.
Anyways my first question is where do I obtain a Goddard? I know where toget a milspec goddard, but I'd prefer to keep my upgrades.
Second question would be where to obtain a cloaking device.
Thanks for your help

Anyone? I've heard there are ways to create missions, could that help me get a goddard.blank? Is there a way to edit my file and make a milspec goddard into a blank (or at least make it so every repair doesn't reset my weapons).
I tried out a milspec goddard for fun, and autotracking makes quick work of my enemies, was easily able to take out a group of uln in seconds.
Anyways, If you know anything about getting a non-milspec goddard, please tell me.

Cloaking device at a research station
I just bought a cloak at a research station.
I've got a milspec goddard. I can upgrade most things, except I suspect I can't upgrade the weapons. I tried buying new ones, but I suspect they reverted. Bit strange that....

Yeah, I've been able to add upgrades like misc and engine..... Just, I'd like weapons with more punch. I'd rather a short blast that takes small ships out in a few seconds, than a longer one that takes 10 seconds. So far not many people have been able to dent my shields, luckily the aera at least tollerate me now.

hmm, does anyone know where I can obtain a cloaking device? I've checked a human resaerch station and all I could find was ecm 3 and some kind of ammo. I'd really prefer to get one in aera space, to avoid the ever-annoying uln, but I'm willing to go elsewhere.
Also, on what type of base can I obtain an aevant?

You'll want to make sure you've got a fairly good standing with the Aera before you venture into their space. My rating with the Aera is roughly 55 now, and frankly, I don't mind getting more friendly with the Aerans.
I've found cloaking devices on Kahun capitals ships, they sometimes show up in the 'Experimental' category.
Otherwise, try Research Stations, or dock with any friendly capital ships you come across. Andolian capital ships are well worth checking out for weapon upgrades and various advanced upgrades like cloaking devices, however they don't seem to have much in the way of ships to sell.
If all else fails, jump to the Enyo system, and visit the fighter barracks there (that's where I got my Goddard from). Otherwise, jump to the Bernards_Star system, and check out the Confederate Starfortress there. If you still can't find yourself a cloaking device to purchase, jump to the Dakota system from Bernards_Star, and visit any capital ships you come across (provided they're friendly). The last time I visited Dakota, I came across an Andolian Starfortress! I didn't check it out though, because I had three active missions, and was in a rush to make some more cash.
Make sure you have at least 250k before you go hunting for a cloaking device, the prices do vary, but the last cloaking device I saw that was on sale was priced at roughly 282k, if I remember right.
Finally, to obtain an Aevant, search for the large white Aeran capital ships. They move and turn disturbingly fast for their size, and you'll probably often see them in combat when you do come across them. These ships are probably the ships that I've had the most difficulty docking with, without bumping my ship into part of the capital ship in the process.
Good luck.

I'm at a good 92 or more standing with the aera. I've been attacked and killed by them once, in some freak happening. Their space seems to be dotted around places, so it's a bit difficult to track down their systems.... They still seem to be selected as hostile too when I press H, strange. To get the aevant, I've docked with a couple aera cap ships, but no luck. I'll keep an eye open, though they are pretty rare. I dont really get why some ships were made so hard to dock with using larger ships, research stations are especially difficult (I have to switch ships to get in).
Anyways, I've checked several kahans, I'll check out dakota, all the starfortresses etc.. that I come across. Capital ships seem to be a rare sight (especially when I'm actually trying to find them) so I'm not sure how lucky I'll be.
Money isn't a problem, bounty missions and cargo have been very good to me.

Ok, this is a shot in the dark (since I don't like to venture too far away from home (Cephid 17)).
Follow the news.
Look at news articles that describe Aera battles, or anything combat that has to do with the Aerans. Visit those systems of interest and see what you can find.

I managed to obtain an aevant from an aera starfortress in one system or another.... They also had cloaking devices (aera milspec) and they weren't redded out. But when I tried to buy one, I couldn't. I had a good 50 some cargo space remaining.
Anyways, is the aevant the closest to the goddard that the aera have? I heard someone say they like it, but it seems weaker than the goddard in most areas.

YA Dumb Question
What is the Mult Inertial Compensator for? It's a cool 9 million, and I can seem to see what it does! With it's name I would assume I can go faster, but nope. Any ideas?
Dumb Question #2
Where / how can I buy my own Capital Ship?

Tractor related dumb question
Can anyone recommend a decent ship that'll mount a tractor beam? I've got a plowshare at the moment, which works, but I don't want to have to do a hot rescue in it!!!
Cheers, Ben

This isn't the only ship that can mount a tractor beam, but I was able to rescue many ejected pilots in it.
Try the Hyena. If I remember right, there's only one mount that can house the tractor beam, and it's right in the middle of your ship, making aiming the tractor beam somewhat easier. The Hyena is quite manoeuvreable as well, so it's not hard to dogfight in it. Just don't cross paths with bigger ships, or you'll be toast.
You can find this ship under the 'Hunter', then the 'Light' ship category.
As for your other questions, I have no idea. I wouldn't be discouraged to ask though, after all, the only dumb question is the one that wasn't asked. (I know, cliche, but still...)
