I installed the game and there's no sound, no mouse control in flight mode, the graphics need to be tuned down, but I cannot find any setup or configure utility.
What do I do?

Well, in Program Files, where VS was installed, there has to be a Setup.exe or VSSetup.exe which will let you change the settings.
I thought a link to it had been added to the installer - if not, it should

No there's no link, but I found the setup in the Program Files folder..
